Since its release in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has continued to redefine what it means to game. Whether you’re looking to virtually duel with your kids in the latest version of Super Smash Bros. or go fishing and hunt for crawling critters in the latest installment of Animal Crossing, the Switch has a game for you.

You can either join three other players on the same system or up to seven others in online and local-wireless play.

Starting off on a deserted island, the goal of Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn’t to fight off wild beasts or go on extravagant, fantastical quests; rather, this kid-friendly but adult-pleasing game invites you to build a community with fellow humanoid-like animals. It’s among the Switch’s hottest games, and its bevy of activities will keep you engaged for hours.

This is a fighting game, but it’s rated “E10+” for “everyone 10 and older.”

Regardless of your age or your relationship with video games, you’ve almost undoubtedly heard of the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Debuting back in 1999 for the Nintendo 64, this classic fighting game is at its apex on the Switch. In addition to the best visuals to date and regular updates, the latest iteration in the franchise brings together all characters and all maps from previous games while continuously adding more.

Join up to seven other players in online play, as you venture up the floors of the ScareScraper.

Luigi returns in the third installment of his critically acclaimed standalone game, this time with a new partner: Gooigi. You can play solo or invite a friend to play locally to play the “goo version” of Mario’s brother, Luigi, as you solve supernatural puzzles and complete otherworldly tasks.

This is the first time that a Legend of Zelda video game has been completely open-world.

In Breath of the Wild, the fantastic world of Zelda is yours to roam like it has never been before. Travel freely as the tried-and-true character Link, as you experience literally hundreds of hours exploring grand landscapes, completing side missions and, of course, fighting enemies with a robust combat system.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has won more than 800 awards, and the game is also now a hit TV series on Netflix!

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is certainly a turn to the more mature among this list, but undoubtedly worth a look by gamers seeking an expansive adventure in a fantastical world. The latest version in the Witcher franchise won over 800 awards, including being named the game of the year and the best roleplaying game in 2015. Even five years later, Witcher 3 is a worthwhile adventure to start.
