Compact Cordless Vacuums That Won’t Take Up Much Space

Many compact vacuums can tackle big clean-up jobs while taking up just a fraction of the storage space of a full-size machine. The first step is deciding what type you want. A thin, stick vacuum is lightweight, looks cool and you can hang it behind a closet door or on the wall in your mudroom. Or perhaps you’d prefer one that folds up into a more compact version of itself at storage time. Then again, maybe a remote-controllable vacuum is more your style. Let’s assess.

Stick vacuums can do pretty much anything their bulkier counterparts can do to a carpet, a hardwood floor or a tile one. Plus they’re lightweight and easy to store. At full charge, they can keep running for between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the model and which attachments you use.

A two-in-one vacuum will give you the versatility of an upright cordless stick vacuum and a smaller handheld to use for little spills and cleanups.

Although automatic vacuums aren’t as precise as traditional models powered by you, you literally don’t have to lift a finger to get rid of dust bunnies, pet hair and other dirt and dust—unless it’s to touch the remote control. Robot vacuums glide over carpets, hard surfaces and area rugs and automatically turn when they approach obstacles like table legs and walls. They’re also extremely compact. Once your vac has finished sucking up dust from under the bed, you can just store it there!
